I simply cannot believe it when I see people putting down the Supper Club or calling it over-rated. It just fucks me up. Those shows were as close to the real thing as you’re gonna get.
People talk shit about The Supper Club? Who? It is clearly one of the best of the best of the best of all Dylan shows, and the longer videos I’ve seen confirm what those soundboards told us years ago. C’mon Bob - give us the Supper Club bootleg series with DVD!!!
I know it’s not a who called out Judas moment in 1966 but I am ( and not proud ) the dummy , too much to drink audience member who shouts out “Lost Sheep “ a second before Bob sings it … and then I say “yeah” too loudly more than once . In some raw earlier live audience recordings recordings you hear my voice more prominent . Again when I first heard it I knew it was me cause I knew I was singing along and I know my voice .. but i’m so sorry i’m heard ( hoping the bootleggers and audiophiles and all my kindred spirit Dylan fans forgive that ) . I went to 2 of these shows and I agree with you … i’ve seen Dylan over 125 times since MSG 1986 and this was one of the top 5 best shows I have seen by Bob .
I’m not particularly enamoured of these shows…. Excellent set list, but voice isn’t in great shape.
Of course, with this being Bob Dyylan, the Unplugged recordings offer exactly the opposite dynamic.
