This is the first time I’ve read your postings. I’m the same age as you and was 19 in 1969 on West Coast , different people. Similar scene. Loved the story. Keeping it real. Laughed out loud. Like my granddaughter tells me”You should write a book. I’d read it!”

Love the story, those are some rich memories, I've always been a big big fan of Van, but I could never align the stories with his talent. His music belies his behavior for sure.

Great stories. I was in the Santa Monica Civic audience for that part of the It's Too Late to Stop Now record, and a major fan of all the records you mentioned. Thanks for recounting.

Great stories! Van sounds like quite the character. We might not get along, but the man did Astral Weeks and that's enough for me!

I remember being at that final EFC show with Van and protesters outside complaining about the cost of tickets being now $3.50 instead of $2.50. I also saw him at the Spectrum where he tried unsuccessfully to get the crowd quiet so he could sing without the mic. I believe he tried to sing "Hound Dog," but could be mistaken.

We saw him live in, Detroit circa 1976. He was drunk and gave a shit performance. People were walking out. We should have demanded our money back.

Great story! Thanks for sharing with us. I assume brother Tony is the well known producer who’s worked with many?

The music producer is a different Tony. Peter’s brother Tony played bass on Blood on the Tracks, was in Deliverence with Eric Weissberg and played with Eric Andersen. But pretty much stepped away from music in the 80s.

Thanks for clarifying.
